Highway Patrol identifies victims in McKenzie County fatal crash

(MCKENZIE COUNTY) -- The North Dakota Highway Patrol has identified two people killed in a crash Tuesday south of Williston.

According to the Patrol, at approximately 6 p.m. Tuesday, a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by 43-year-old Maria White, of Groves, Texas, was northbound on Highway 85, near mile marker 177, when it hydroplaned on the wet road caused by a heavy downpour in the area.

A 2021 Kenworth Construction semi, driven by 57-year-old Richard Poline, of Minot, was southbound in the same location at the same time. The Equinox crossed over the center line and struck the Kenworth head on.

White, along with her passenger, 42-year-old Jose White, also of Grove, were pronounced dead on the scene. Poline sustained minor injuries and was transported to CHI St. Alexius in Williston via ambulance.

The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
