(Washington, DC) -- It's business as usual for federal workers Friday.
The House and Senate both approved a bill to avoid a government shutdown, which was imminent Friday evening if no deal was reached. President Biden will sign that agreement later in the day Friday, funding agencies through the middle of February.
Lawmakers will now turn their attention to the next big deadline. The nation is set to reach its debt limit in less than two weeks, meaning it could go into default. If that happens, the government could miss critical payments.
