(Minneapolis, MN) -- The FBI is investigating after the former Minneapolis police officer convicted for killing George Floyd was stabbed in prison.
Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison says the FBI will look into what led up to Derek Chauvin being stabbed last week.
Ellison told WCCO that Chauvin has a right to "do his time and safely" and its important to find out how the stabbing happened.
Chauvin is currently serving a 22-year sentence in a federal prison in Arizona.
Ellison said he's been assured that officials at the prison are taking a renewed look at their safety measures.
