(Fort Yates, ND) -- Janet Alkire will be the next Standing Rock Sioux Tribe chairwoman.
Unofficial results posted on Facebook show she narrowly defeated Ira Taken Alive to become the first woman elected chair of the tribe in 50 years. She will take over from Mike Faith, who was elected in 2017.
Unofficial results indicate Frank Jamerson was elected vice chairman.
