BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- MSU Moorhead sophomore quarterback Jack Strand has been named the NSIC's Offensive Player of the Week following another eye-popping performance against Winona State.

It is the first weekly honor for Strand in 2023.

Strand helped guide the Dragons to a 20-17 win over the Warriors behind 26 pass completions, a league-best 302 passing yards and a pair of touchdowns. The Bloomer, Wis., native found Brady Perryman for two scores in the win. Strand also rushed for 13 yards, gaining three crucial first downs with his legs for the Dragons. The sophomore connected on 68.4 percent of his pass attempts in the victory.

In the win, Strand broke MSUM's single-season passing yards record (3,223) which had been held by Hall of Famer Dustin Long since 2007. Strand has also broken the single-season pass completions and attempts records in 2023 while sitting three passing touchdowns shy of the single-season school record. The phenomenal sophomore also broke the all-time MSUM completions record earlier this season.

Currently, Strand is second in the entire nation in passing yardage and passing touchdowns. He leads Division II with 299 pass completions and is 10th in the country in completion percentage (67.2) just behind 2022 Harlon Hill Award Winner John Matocha of Colorado Mines.

MSUM is on the road this week in a rivalry matchup with Bemidji State. The annual Battle For The Axe is set to kickoff at 1 p.m. on Saturday from Chet Anderson Stadium with game coverage available on AM 1100 The Flag. The pregame show will begin at 12:30 p.m.
