Minnesota State University Moorhead redshirt freshman wide receiver Gage Florence has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference’s (NSIC) Offensive Player of the Week.

The honor comes after Florence set a school and NSIC single game record with 21 receptions. He also had 215 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Florence’s 21 receptions was just two shy of tying the NCAA single game receptions record.

MSUM football head coach Steve Laqua had high praise for Florence’s performance saying, "I thought Gage was fabulous all day long. He found ways to get open against zone and man coverage.” Laqua continued, “he did a great job running with the ball after catches. I am probably most proud of the way he bounced back after a couple of early drops."

During Florence’s record breaking performance the Dragons defeated the UMary Marauders 40-38 en route to winning the Battle For The Paddle for the seventh straight year.

The Dragons will return to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. when they visit the Northern State Wolves in Aberdeen, S.D.
