Twins swept by Royals

(Kansas City, MO) -- The Twins are tucking their tail between their legs after being swept by the last-place Royals. Minnesota lost 2-1 to Kansas City at Kauffman Stadium.

Matt Wallner hit a solo home run in the top of the third to tie the game at one, but the Royals took the lead for good when Maikel Garcia hit an RBI double in the next inning. Kenta Maeda fell to 2-6 after surrendering a pair of runs on four hits in five innings.

Minnesota has a half-game lead over Cleveland for first place in the AL Central at 54-53. The Twins visit St. Louis tomorrow night.

In other team news, outfielder Alex Kirilloff was placed on the ten-day injured list yesterday, and the Twins activated reliever Caleb Thielbar from the 15-day IL.
