Produced water spill reported in Williams County

(WILLIAMS COUNTY) -- More than 400,000 gallons of produced water was released in a spill Monday from a pipeline in Williams County. The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality said the report came from Henry Hill Oil Services.

The spill, which happened approximately 26 miles northeast of Williston, indicated the produced water impacted a wetland area. Produced water is a by-product of oil production.

The cause of the spill is under investigation.
