Former Vikings quarterback Joe Kapp is dead at the age of 85. Kapp had spent the past 15 years battling dementia according to his son.

Kapp played three seasons with the Vikings between 1967 and 1969, and he led Minnesota to its first Super Bowl appearance during his final year with the team. In the first week of that season, Kapp threw seven touchdowns against the Baltimore Colts, tying the record for most touchdown passes in a game.

UC-San Francisco will study Kapp's brain to see whether or not he had CTE.
