(Fargo, ND) --  Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has singed into law clarifications to a School Resource Officer law passed last year.

The law restricted the force a School Resource Officer can use when restraining students in Minnesota schools.

The latest version clarifies the wording of the law.

The law now states that officers are not school employees and are therefore not subject to the tighter restrictions on force.

However, some restrictions will remain in place, including a ban on chokeholds.

Governor Walz's office announced Thursday night that he had signed the bill into law.
