(Bismarck, ND)  --  A former Bismarck Police officer has changed his plea in an excessive use of force case.  George Huff entered an Alford Plea earlier this month and a trial scheduled for December has been canceled.  Huff was sentenced to 30 days in jail which was suspended, nearly a year probation and ordered to pay court fees. He was accused of beating and seriously injuring Keith Erlandson during an altercation in March.

By entering an Alford Plea the defendant doesn't admit guilt but does admit the prosecution has enough evidence that would likely end in a guilty verdict if brought to trial.
