Canadian man sentenced to 6.5 years in prison for unlawfully possessing 67 firearms

(St. Paul, MN) -- A Canadian man was sentenced to 78 months for possessing a firearm as an alien unlawfully in the United States.

Court documents say 29-year-old Dayne Adrian Sitladeen and 29-year-old Muzamil Aden Addow were stopped near Fergus Falls by a Minnesota State Trooper for speeding. When the trooper asked for identification, the driver, Muzamil Aden Addow, gave an Ontario, Canada, driver's license under a false name.Court documents say the Trooper searched the vehicle after smelling marijuana in the vehicle and hearing suspicious statements from Sitladeen. The search revealed 67 firearms and several magazines, including 15 high-capacity magazines, from four separate bags. 

Court documents say law enforcement found a federal arrest warrant from the United States Marshals was in effect for Sitladeen. It was based upon a 2019 Canadian arrest warrant for first degree homicide, fentanyl distribution, and possession of proceeds of crime.

Sitladeen pleaded guilty on June 23, 2021 for one count of aiding and abetting firearm possession by aliens unlawfully in the United States.
