(Beijing) -- The World Anti-Doping Agency is coming under fire following a media report claiming nearly two dozen Chinese swimmers competed in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics after using a banned substance.
A New York Times article says the FBI and anti-doping agencies from other countries, including the U.S., have been investigating a possible cover-up by Chinese officials. According to the article, China's anti-doping agency said its swimmers were unaware they had taken the substance and had taken it in "tiny amounts."
The World Anti-Doping Agency says there was "a lack of any credible evidence" to take any action against China. The agency also called the the criticism unsubstantiated.
