White House: House GOP turning back on budget deal

(Washington, DC)  --  The White House says House Republicans are turning their back on a bipartisan agreement to fund the government and are forcing a shutdown.

Director of the Office of Management and Budget Shalanda Young recounted the deal that was reached between President Biden and Speaker McCarthy back in May.

She said Republicans are now refusing to abide by that deal and are demanding more spending cuts that will "eviscerate" programs Americans rely on.

The government is set to shutdown at midnight Saturday if lawmakers fail to pass a spending bill.
