Walensky exits CDC

(Washington, DC)  --  The head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is stepping down.  

The White House announced today Dr. Rochelle Walensky is leaving the agency next month.  

She's been in the position since the start of the Biden administration and played a key role in its response to the COVID-19 pandemic.  

Biden said Walensky saved lives with her "steadfast and unwavering focus on the health of every American."
