(Seattle, WA)  -- Seattle leads the list that may not surprise many people.

A new survey conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau found that Seattle is still the nation's saddest large metro area.

The Emerald City ranked number one with the highest percentage of respondents who answered they were feeling depressed and hopeless.

In first two weeks of February, nearly half of Seattle-area adults reported feeling down. Riverside-San Bernardino took second place and Phoenix came in third. Los Angeles and San Francisco made it to the top ten saddest cities, while Washington D.C., Chicago, New York and Dallas rounded out the list.

The national survey ranks the top 15 saddest large metro areas.
