(Milwaukee, WI) -- Harley-Davidson beat Wall Street estimates as its third-quarter profits and sales bounced back from a temporary production shutdown earlier this year that drained inventory.

Harley posted earnings of a dollar-78 a share Wednesday morning, well above the Street's dollar-40 estimate.

Total third-quarter revenue for the Milwaukee-based motorcycle maker was one-point-six billion dollars, against analysts' estimate of one-point-four billion.
