(Washington, DC) -- Thursday morning's unemployment report shows jobless claims in the U.S. are in decline.

The Labor Department says the number of new applications for unemployment benefits fell by 12-thousand last week to 214-thousand. That's less than the 230-thousand analysts were expecting.

Experts say it's an encouraging sign for the economy, and indicates that jobs are still being added despite efforts by the Federal Reserve to tighten monetary policy and bring down inflation.
