(Atlanta, GA) -- COVID boosters for children ages five to eleven could be available as soon as Friday.

A CDC panel has granted emergency use authorization to a Pfizer COVID booster for this age group. CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky has signed off on it, too, noting that vaccination with a primary series of COVID shots among five to eleven-year-olds has lagged way behind other groups.

Just 30-percent of these children are immunized. They're now eligible for a booster five months after completing their first two shots.
