(Atlanta, GA) -- The number of cases of some sexually transmitted diseases are hitting record highs.

The CDC says this is the seventh year in a row of rising STD rates. Gonorrhea is up 45-percent since 2016 and syphilis up 50-percent. The biggest jump is in congenital syphilis, which affects newborns who contract the disease from their mother.

More than two-thousand cases were reported just in 2020, but are up 235-percent in the past six years.
