(San Francisco, CA) -- Lyft is creating a driver legal defense fund over Texas' new abortion law.
CEO Logan Green said the measure could punish Lyft drivers for doing their job by taking a woman to an abortion clinic. Green is promising the fund will cover all legal fees for drivers sued under the law while working for the ride-sharing company.
The Texas law bans abortion whenever a fetal heartbeat is detected and allows civil lawsuits against abortion doctors, clinics and others who help a woman get an illegal abortion.
