(Fargo, ND) -- One in four new business applications filed in North Dakota in 2023 were filed in Cass County.
"The top business types that we are seeing are service-based businesses, healthcare businesses, retail trade, which may be a brick and mortar, it may be online," said Paul Smith, the Fargo/Southeast Center Director for the North Dakota Small Business Development Center.
He said there were 2,200 new business applications in Cass County last year.
The state of North Dakota ranked second nationally for the number of new business applications filed in 2023, with a rough total of 8,900.
