(Fargo, ND) -- The head of Cass County Electric Cooperative says crews are making steady progress in getting power back online for hundreds of customers impacted by the recent ice storm.
"We talked about this before, but it's patience. I know patience is waning for folks because they're tired of not having power. We are doing everything we can to hopefully get most of the power restored at least by the end of this weekend," said Marshal Albright, the utility's President and CEO.
Albright tells WDAY Radio that roughly 670 accounts are still without electricity.
At one time, about 45 hundred accounts were offline.
Most of the impact was in Barnes County, but residents in Ransom, LaMoure, and Sargent Counties were also left in the dark.
Albright says more than 700 power poles still need to be repaired as of Tuesday morning.
113 linemen are now at work, including extra crews from cooperatives in Minnesota and South Dakota.
The total cost of the damage could exceed $3 million.
