No injuries reported in early Monday morning fire in Williston

(Williston, ND) -- No one was injured in an early Monday morning residential structure fire in the City of Williston.

The Williston Fire Department responded to a report of smoke in a residential structure just after 1 a.m. Monday. Additionally, Williston Police responded to provide traffic control and scene security.

The first truck arrived just eight minutes after the dispatch call and encountered smoke coming from the basement, with the main floor starting to be filled. All occupants were out of the home prior to the fire department arriving on scene. While exiting the structure, the homeowner isolated the electrical sources to the affected area and applied water to the fire. When the second truck arrived on the scene, firefighters entered the home, located the fire's source in the basement, and fully extinguished it. The crews worked to evacuate smoke from the residence and isolate utilities.

Firefighters spent nearly two and a half hours on scene. Investigators found the fire to be electrical in nature and deemed an unintentional/accidental fire.
