North Dakota Congressman Kelly Armstrong discusses House Speaker vote; says Homeland Security Director Mayorkas should resign

(Fargo, ND) -- North Dakota Congressman Kelly Armstrong is commenting on the process House republicans used to confirm Kevin McCarthy as the new House Speaker.

"I actually like the rules package, I like that fact that we're going back to regular order. I think with a 4 vote majority the only way republicans are going to effectuate change for the American people is if we are listening to all viewpoints and we're talking to each other at the beginning of the process and not just at the end," said Armstrong.

Armstrong says he wished representatives could have reached a final vote by January 3rd, and wished they didn't have to work things out on C-SPAN over the course of 4 days.

While appearing on "What's on Your Mind" on AM 1100 The Flag, the congressman was also asked "what's job one?" for republicans.

"So job one was repealing the 87,000 IRS agents, which we passed last week. Job 2 was setting up 2 select committees one on China which got broad bipartisan support, the other one in our rules package which is a select committee on the government's weaponization against American citizens," said Armstrong.

Armstrong also says currently there is a "documents issue" for the house to respond to, and says they also need to look at government involvement with "big tech".  He also says the Judiciary Committee is going to begin working on a border security bill.

The congressman also says Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas should resign, saying the secretary is "completely incompetent at his job".
