Grand Forks County, ND - A 37-year old Grand Forks man is hospitalized and two Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Deputies are on administrative leave after a shooting Sunday morning.

Deputies were called to the 800 block of County Hwy 81 just before 11:30am on a report of a crashed vehicle that had been seen driving erratically prior to the crash. A short time later authorities got another call about a man with a gun trying to break into a home.

According to a press release, deputies ordered the man to drop the gun, but he didn't, and continued to walk toward the deputies with the gun in his hand.

Two deputies shot the man. He was taken to Altru Health System in Grand Forks, where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The two deputies have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard in any officer-involved shooting.

The shooting is under investigation.
