NDHP conducts sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols

 

On Saturday, a sobriety checkpoint was held in McKenzie County on the Highway 85 business loop south of Watford City. During the two-hour checkpoint, 118 vehicles passed through the checkpoint. Seven drivers were evaluated for impairment and no arrests were made. The goal of sobriety checkpoints is to deter motorists from driving impaired.

As drivers passed through the checkpoint, troopers distributed informational materials to educate motorists about the consequences of impaired driving.

Also on Saturday, the Highway Patrol conducted a sobriety checkpoint at the intersection of Hwy 1806 and County Road 21 in Mercer County. The goal of the sobriety checkpoint was to deter motorists from driving impaired. During the 2-hour checkpoint, 67 vehicles passed through the checkpoint: four drivers were evaluated for impairment and one driver was arrested for driving under the influence. Troopers distributed educational materials about the consequences of driving impaired to all those stopped at the checkpoint.
