The long ball powers Minnesota past Boston

On Wednesday night the Minnesota Twins took down the Boston Red Sox 10-4.

Joe Ryan had a quality start, tossing six innings with three strikeouts while giving up three runs. Ryan is now 4-0 on the season with the victory. Brent Headrick polished off the final three innings striking out three batters and giving up one run.

The Twins struck first in the top of the first inning on a Trevor Larnach RBI groundout giving Minnesota the 1-0 lead. Edouard Julien would then hit a two run homer 418 feet, extending the lead to 3-0.

In the third inning Jose Miranda hit an RBI single, 4-0 Minnesota. Joey Gallo would step up to the plate and hit a 417 foot two run homer, 7-0 Twins. In the bottom half of the inning, Raimel Tapia would pick up an RBI on a groundout, cutting into the Minnesota lead 7-1.

Larnach would crack the game wide open with a 423 foot three run homer in the sixth inning, extending the Twins’ lead to 10-2. Enrique Hernandez hit a 371 foot homer in the bottom of the inning, 10-3 Minnesota.

Boston would score one more run in the ninth inning on a Jarren Duran sacrifice fly. Minnesota wins 10-4 heading into Tuesday afternoons rubber match.

First pitch is set for 12:35 p.m. Kenta Maeda will be on the bump for the Twins.
