Minnesota and Quinnipiac punch tickets to NCAA Men's Hockey National Championship Game

(Tampa, FL)  --  The NCAA National Hockey Championship is set.

The No. 1 Minnesota Gophers scored four third period goals to beat Boston University 6-2 in the Frozen Four semi-finals on Thursday. Logan Cooley and Luke Mittelstadt each scored twice for the Gophers. Rhett Pitlick and Mike Koster also scored in the victory. Justen Close saved 29 of the 31 shots he faced.

No. 2 Quinnipiac rallied past No. 3 Michigan with three scores in the final frame during a 5-2 victory. Jacob Quillan scored two goals to lead the Bobcats. Ethan De Jong and Zach Metsa also found the back of the net.

Minnesota and Quinnipiac will meet in the National Championship at Amalie Arena on Saturday at 7 p.m. with game coverage avaialable on ESPN2.

The Gophers are looking to win to win their first title since 2003 while the Bobcats are in search of the first championship in school history.
