Wild fall to Vegas, still clinch a playoff berth

The Minnesota Wild fell to the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 in a shootout last night. Even with the loss the Wild clinched a playoff berth thanks to the Dallas Stars taking down the Nashville Predators 5-1. Minnesota is making its 10th playoff appearance in the past 11 seasons.

The Wild had three different goal scorers led by Matt Boldy’s 30th goal of the season, plus goals from Brandon Duhaime and John Klingberg. Joel Eriksson Ek also extended his assist streak to four games in the loss. Filip Gustavsson faced 26 shots before the shootout, saving 23 shots on goal.

In the shootout Gustavsson gave up three goals on five shots. Freddy Gaudreau and Joel Eriksson Ek scored for Minnesota in the shootout. Jack Eichel, Pavel Dorofeyev, and Reilly Smith scored for Vegas in the shootout win.

Pavel Dorofeyev led the Golden Knights with a pair of goals followed by a goal from Keegan Kolesar in regulation.

The Wild will hit the road and visit the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday with puck drop slated for 6 p.m.
