The Summit League office announced that North Dakota State women’s basketball senior guard Heaven Hamling has been named to the All-Summit League First Team, while freshman guard Elle Evans garnered a handful of awards.

Evans has been named the Summit League’s Freshman of the Year, while also being named to the All-Defensive Team, All-Newcomer Team, and earning an All-Summit League Honorable Mention. She is the first player in program history to be named the Summit League Freshman of the Year. Additionally, she is the only player in program history to be named to the Summit League All-Defensive Team. Evans averaged 13.8 points per game in the regular season.

This season Evans has scored 10+ points in 15 of 18 conference contests. Defensively, she has five games this season with three or more blocks. Evans also recorded at least two steals in eight different games.

Hamling is the first Bison to earn All-Summit League First Team honors since 2016. She is top five in the Summit League in three-pointers, steals, three-point percentage, points per game, and assists in conference play. Hamling also earned the Summit league Peak Performer of the Week three times this season. She scored 10+ points in 13 of 18 Summit League games, while notching three or more steals in seven different games.

The Hamling-Evans duo helped guide NDSU to its most wins in a single-season since 2004-05 with an 18-10 (12-6 Summit) overall record. 12 Summit League wins is the most in a single-season since 2008-09.

No. 2 seed North Dakota State will play in the Summit League Tournament Quarterfinals on Saturday, March 4 at 3 p.m. at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. NDSU will take on the winner of No. 7 seed Denver and No. 10 seed Kansas City.
