On Monday the North Dakota State University athletic department announced the hiring of Matt Bauman as assistant strength and conditioning coach. Bauman will work with the Bison football team. He is replacing Eric Perkins who previously held the role and will work alongside Jim Kramer, assistant athletic director for athletic performance.

Over the past 10 years Bauman has been the head strength and conditioning coach for Minnesota Duluth overseeing all 12 NCAA Division II sports. He was directly responsible for football, men’s and women’s basketball, and volleyball’s programming and implantation of year-round strength and conditioning programs.

Bauman was a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at UMD with the football, men’s and women’s basketball, soccer, and baseball teams from 2009-12, prior to being hired full-time.

In 2008 he graduated from Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a bachelor’s degree in health promotion and wellness. After graduating, Bauman interned with the Chicago Bulls during the 2008-09 season. He also earned a master’s degree in education at UMD in 2011.
