For the third straight week University of North Dakota goalie Zach Driscoll has been named the NCHC Goaltender of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Driscoll, a senior, became only the third goalie in the nine-year history of the NCHC to earn the honor for three straight weeks. He joins former UND goaltender Cam Johnson in 2015-16 and Ludvig Persson of Miami Ohio in 2020-21 as the only players to achieve the feat.
Driscoll was great for the Fighting Hawks in a pair of victories over Minnesota Duluth. He had over 30 saves in both games leading UND to their first sweep at AMSOIL Arena since 2015.
Friday night Driscoll made a season-high 36 saves in the Fighting Hawks’ 4-3 victory. He followed up with a 33 save performance in Saturday’s 3-2 win.
During the month of February Driscoll has been nearly perfect posting a 5-1 record with a 1.82 goals against average, and a .939 save percentage. The victories propelled UND into first place in the NCHC with four games remaining in the regular season.
No. 7 North Dakota will wrap up its home schedule for the regular season this weekend against No. 6 Western Michigan. Friday night's game will be nationally televised on CBS Sports Network with puck drop slated for 7:07 p.m.
