Peyton Boom Is The NSIC North WBB Player Of The Week

     On Monday the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) named Minnesota State University Moorhead junior forward Peyton Boom the NSIC North Player of the Week. This is Boom’s first weekly honor of the season and the second in her collegiate career.

     Boom, a Barnesville, Minn., native was phenomenal helping lead the Dragons to a 2-0 record this past week. She dropped 24 points and a career-high 16 rebounds in Thursday night's 76-73 overtime victory over UMary. Then on Saturday afternoon, she followed with another outstanding game scoring 18 points, grabbing seven rebounds, and dishing out a career-high five assists in a 71-64 win at Minot State.

     Between both games she averaged 21 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists along with also shooting 51 percent from the field.

     Boom is the first MSUM Dragons women’s player to earn the Player of the Week honor this season.

     On Wednesday, Boom and the No. 4 seeded Dragons will visit the No. 3 seeded Southwest Minnesota State University Mustangs in the opening round of the NSIC Tournament. Tip is scheduled for 6 p.m.

     The winner will square off with No. 1 seed Minnesota State University Mankato on Saturday at 7 p.m. with the game taking place at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Fall, S.D.
