NDSU’s Griesel Named The Summit League Men’s Basketball Player Of The Week

North Dakota State University’s Sam Griesel has been named the TicketSmarter Summit League Player of the Week in men’s basketball, the league announced on Monday. A Lincoln, Neb. native, Griesel averaged 17.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game as he helped the Bison win three games this past week, pushing their winning streak to five games.

Last Monday Griesel pulled some late game heroics knocking down the game winning bucket with 3.2 seconds remaining. That game winner erased a 17-point second half deficit as the Bison downed South Dakota 76-74. He also chipped in 10 rebounds and four assists in the miraculous comeback.

For the first time in his collegiate career, Griesel also scored 20-plus points in back-to-back games. He dropped 23 points in Thursday’s thrilling 84-81 double-overtime win at Western Illinois. He followed that performance with a 24-point game on Saturday when the Bison defeated St. Thomas 75-64. The Bison are now currently 11-4 in Summit League play.

Griesel logged 121 minutes in the three games, averaging 40.3 minutes per game throughout the week.

NDSU will welcome Oral Roberts to the SHAC on Thursday at 7 p.m. Game coverage will be available on ESPN Plus.
