Twins rally falls short against Mariners

(Seattle, WA) -- The Twins came up a run short in a three-run ninth during their 7-6 loss to the Mariners in Seattle.

Max Kepler hit a three-run home run with two outs in the final inning to bring Minnesota with in one, but Ryan Jeffers struck out in the next at-bat to end the game. Joey Gallo added a home run in the losing effort, while Sonny Gray was charged with his fourth loss after surrendering five runs in 5 2/3 innings.

The Twins have a 1.5 game lead over Cleveland for first place in the AL Central at 48-47. Bailey Ober starts for Minnesota against Seattle tonight beginning at 8:40 p.m.
