(Bismarck, ND) -- Police agencies across North Dakota are joining a nationwide effort to get drivers to put down their cellphones.

The "Put the Phone Away or Pay" campaign begins in April with troopers and local police out in extra patrols to enforce distracted driving laws. Officials want drivers to take the "Buckle Up, Phone Down" pledge to eliminate distracted driving which they know will save lives with fewer deadly crashes.
