Emmer proposes no more State of the Union invitations for President Biden

(Washington, D.C.)  --  A Republican Minnesota lawmaker wants to cancel future invitations for President Joe Biden to deliver State of the Union addresses.

Congressman Tom Emmer calls the commander-in-chief's address a divisive campaign speech.

The U.S. Representative spoke with Axios during an interview and said that there will be a different president next year and Congress should reconsider whether to invite the president to deliver another address in the future.

During the speech, Biden regularly referenced former President Donald Trump by making several references to his predecessor during the address.
