(Fargo, ND) -- North Dakota ranked second in the nation for new business applications in 2023.
"These are new business applications that employ at least one employee in addition to the owner. Cass County led the way with 2,200 new applications," said Paul Smith, the Fargo Southeast Center Director for the North Dakota Small Business Development Center.
He said statewide in 2023 there were 8,900 applications for new businesses.
The only state with more new business filings last year than North Dakota was Colorado.
