(Cavalier County, ND) -- A man accused of threatening to kill a Cavalier County Sheriff's Deputy made his initial court appearance.

Earlier this month, the Cavalier County Sheriff's Department responded to a call from 42-year-old Jason Duerr, who claimed he had stolen a van. Police located Duerr and the van, and arrested him after he admitted to being on drugs. Authorities say when they attempted to arrest Duerr, he became combative and threatened to kill one of the responding deputies.

Duerr faces charges of felony terrorizing and preventing arrest.
