UND's Energy and Environmental Research Center receives $12M grant to study state's critical minerals 

(Grand Forks, ND)  --  The University of North Dakota's Energy and Environmental Research Center is the recipient of a multi-million-dollar grant.  

The Industrial Commission recently presented the research center with 12-million-dollars in funding to study the amount of critical minerals in the state.  

Critical minerals include copper, cobalt, lithium, nickel and rare earth elements.  

Officials also want to know more about the possible use of underground salt caverns to store natural gas for long periods of time.
