(Bismarck, ND) -- A petition that would drastically change North Dakota's voting system is back on the table after initially being withdrawn by the applicants.
The proposal was introduced in late August, but was shelved about 10 days later due to language concerns within the application. However, the proposal was resubmitted yesterday to the North Dakota Secretary of State's office, allowing for the collection of signatures to potentially overhaul the state's voting system.
If passed, the legislation would replace voting machines with paper ballots only, do away with early voting, and allow only absentee ballots to those who request them in writing and only distribute the ballots within a limited window of time. You can find our original reporting by clicking here.
The proposal will need 31,000 signatures before it can be put on a ballot for voters.
