Oil and brine spill reported in Williams county

(Epping, ND) -- Thousands of gallons of brine and several oil barrels have been spilled and then recovered in a Western North Dakota incident.

The North Dakota Oil and Gas Division was alerted to a spill of approximately 2,490 barrels of brine and 10 barrels of oil that began on September 2nd, 2023, at the PANKOWSKI SWD 1 well. Officials with Tallgrass Water North Dakota, LLC reported the spill occurred northwest of Epping. State officials say approximately one barrel of brine and 0.1 barrels of oil remain for recovery. 

The site is currently under the watch of a ND Oil and Gas inspector, who is monitoring the situation.
