Red River flooding in northern North Dakota also less than expected

(Walsh Co., ND)  --  The flooding expected along the Red River and other waterways in northern North Dakota hasn't been as bad as first feared.

A steady snow melt has made the rise of rivers and streams more manageable and lowered the threat of major flooding.

Moderate flooding of the Red River did cause some road closures this week and the Forest River in Minto rose higher than expected with ice jams causing moderate flooding in part of the region.

The Red River is still on the rise in several areas including Pembina and Drayton.
