(Fargo, ND) -- North Dakota is apparently one of the least innovative states in the country.

That from Personal Finance website WalletHub, who ranks the Peace Garden State 3rd least innovative in the U.S.

The study took into account 22 key metrics, including everything from share of STEM professionals to Research and Development spending per capita.

WalletHub says that the U.S. is spending over $600 billion per year on research and development.

The most innovative, according to Wallethub, is the District of Columbia. The least? Mississippi.
