Teen declared dead following train collision in North Dakota town

(White Earth, ND) -- A teenager is dead following a vehicle and train collision in a northwestern North Dakota town

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the crash happened at a railroad crossing on 66th St NW just before 4:00 p.m on Wednesday. Authorities say the driver, an unidentified 14 -year-old driver, failed to yield at the tracks and attempted to cross the intersection. That is when a BNSF Train was pass through the crossing. Authorities say the train struck the vehicle on its driver's side, pushing it down the tracks and spinning it before it came to a rest on the north side of the tracks.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol
