(Bismarck, ND) -- The North Dakota Supreme Court is welcoming a new member, while saying goodbye to a long-serving justice.

Douglas Bahr was officially sworn in as a Supreme Court Justice Monday in the House Chambers.

He replaces Justice Gerald VandeWalle, who was the state's longest-serving chief justice.

Bahr spent 25 years in the state attorney general's office and was the director of the civil litigation division from 1999 to 2016.
