(Bismarck, ND) -- North Dakota's GOP Chair is sharing opposition to both of the ballot measures which will appear on the upcoming November General Election.

Perrie Schafer is North Dakota's Republican Party Chairman. He joined The Flag's What's On Your Mind program to speak about his reasoning for opposing the upcoming measures which would place term limits on state legislators and legalize recreational marijuana if approved by the voters. Schaefer says his biggest reason for opposing term limits on state legislators is because they will impede who voters will be able to choose to represent them at the ballot box.

"I want the voters to be able to choose who they want to represent them for district in our state," said Schaefer, "I know my democratic colleagues across the isle feel the same way that we do. They want the districts to be able to vote for their own legislators."

Schaefer says legislators work part-time when they go to Bismarck for 80 days for their two-year terms, which he says is not nearly enough time to learn procedures and policies in the state legislature.
