(Washington, DC) -- North Dakota Senator Kevin Cramer is calling on the Biden administration to end pandemic restrictions at the U.S.-Canada border.

“In the words of President Biden, the pandemic is over and now Canada has announced the end of COVID-19 border and quarantine restrictions,"said Cramer in a statement released to WDAY Radio. "I urge the Biden Administration to follow suit of our close trade partner and ally. It’s high time to end restrictions on commercial truck drivers and expand hours of operations at U.S. ports of entry to pre-pandemic schedules. North Dakota, especially our border towns, rely on commerce and visitors from our neighbors to the north.”

The move comes after Canadian officials have decided to end pandemic restrictions for people entering their country. People entering Canada will no longer be subject to testing, quarantine, and isolation requirements and won't have to undergo health checks or wear masks on planes or trains.

The Canadian restrictions end Saturday.
