(Minot, ND) -- No charges will be filed following the death of a 6-year-old California girl who was fatally injured prior to Mandan's July 4th parade.
Ventura, California resident Mabel Askay was riding the DK Orthodontics float which was en route to the parade's staging area at 9:00 a.m when she fell from the float and was hit by a tire. Officials say Mabel passed away at a nearby hospital.
Investigators say the driver of the float did not cause Mabel to fall from the float, calling the incident a tragic, freak accident. Investigators were unable to determine why Mabel fell from the float.
